Nine Muses Collective: Celebrating And Supporting Women In The Creative Industries

The Nine Muses Festival was founded in 2019 by Spotify, Kinnevik, MTG and Discovery, and later a partnership with Clear Channel. The flash behind the idea, the lyrics behind the melody, the view behind the picture…women have, throughout time, inspired and influenced the world in which we live. Almost every year since its founding, Spotifiy and our partners have hosted a one-day event on International Women’s Day. The event was designed as a celebration of women in the creative industries – those who have a direct and lasting impact on culture and society.

In September 2022 we ventured into the next phase of our event by launching a new concept called Nine Muses Collective, with the ambition of providing a safe and empowering space for the Nine Muses loyal followers and newbies to join us throughout the year. Filled with inspirational speakers, workshops, and networking opportunities our events help women in the creative industries to learn, share and build community with others.

One such event was hosted by our partner Clear Channel yesterday, as a pre-celebration of International Women’s Day. The event was a fantastic kick off to the 2024 Nine Muses Collective schedule with a live performance and a fireside chat.

The live performance was from Amanda Fondell – one of Sweden’s most unique voices. She gave us a preview of her new EP (out next week); “Excuse me, I just need to scream”. A fitting tribute to women and especially all the introverts out there. Our cozy ‘living-room’ style setting elevated the beautiful lyrics and connected deep in the listener’s hearts.

Following the performance, the Nine Muses Collective enjoyed a fireside chat with Jonna Bergh, Chief Editor of multiple magazines and a journalist with an extraordinary career in the fashion media business. The conversation gave insights into Jonna’s tough learnings in her professional and personal life, and the thin line that holds it all in balance. She emphasized the importance of creating a safe space for the people you work with and to have someone who believes in you and also gives you a safe space to thrive in. And in keeping with our own beliefs and motivations for founding the Festival and the Collective, she advised us all to stay true to ourselves and do what makes our heart beat fast, whilst also remembering that it’s time to go home in the evening too.

We appreciate the reflective, generous and curious mindset that each part of our Collective brings every single day. Today, on International Women’s Day, and at a time when we recognise that now, more than ever, women in creative industries inspire and influence the world in which we live, we send a huge thanks to all involved. We are extremely proud to bring these women to the forefront and celebrate them as today’s Muses! To find out more about upcoming events and join our Collective, check out www.ninemusesfestival.com
